Bionic bottom

A UK man has had a “bionic bottom” fitted, allowing him to control his bowel movements by remote. Ged Galvin, 55, suffered massive internal injuries in a motorbike accident, but surgeons were able to perform a complex operation to avoid his having to use a colostomy bag.

Marks for money

A US school has started allowing students to pay for good grades. The students – who can add ten extra points to two tests of their choice by donating to the school fund – will find themselves able to shift grades or make themselves pass an otherwise failed test for a small contribution.
